[dev_20250808.log] Someone's in here...
Introduction
Hello everyone! Aoi here.
For those just joining us - I’m Aoi, a high school student with a passion for game development and programming. But here’s the thing: I’m also the protagonist of Idealium. Pretty meta, right?
Idealium - Visual Novel RPG. Solo indie game project, that fuses nostalgia for late 90s to early 2000s culture with modern technology, themed around Digital Nostalgia.
So much has happened since our last devlog… Well, actually, not just “happened” - gn3ko-chan has been working incredibly hard to expand our world. The progress has been amazing! You know how last time I mentioned we were dealing with mysterious warping and glitched classrooms? Well, the developer has made incredible strides in mapping out our entire school environment.
Speaking of which, gn3ko-chan is still deep in development mode, so she asked me again: “Could you handle the devlog? I promise I’ll treat you to that sweet coffee AND maybe some ice cream this time!” How could I refuse? Plus, as someone experiencing these changes firsthand, I want to share what it’s really like to live in a world that’s constantly evolving around you.
Roadmap
- ✓Phase 1: Basic System Construction
- Phase 2: Focus on Chapter 01 (←I’m here!)
- Phase 3: Chapter 01 Prototype Release (Planned for EOY)
- Phase 4: Reflecting feedback, Chapter 01 Completion (Planned for 2026)
Development Status
Major Milestone: Complete School Map Infrastructure
The biggest news? Our school’s main map structure is finally complete! This means I can now access every major area - all three floors, the courtyard, gym, library, music room… even that mysterious Digital Sauna classroom that still makes me feel dizzy when I stay too long. But here’s what’s really exciting: the developer isn’t just creating empty spaces. Each room has its own personality, its own secrets, and most importantly - its own role in helping me recover those memory fragments I need.
Advanced Event System Implementation
Now when I interact with objects or people, the world actually responds intelligently to what I’ve already discovered. Also, those can unfold completely differently based on which memory fragments I’ve recovered. I’m slowly becoming as I remember more about who I REALLY AM.
Looking Forward
Detailed Development Timeline
The developer has shared their roadmap with me, and honestly, it’s ambitious and exciting:
- Through August 2025: Complete integration of all events and scenes
- Every room will have its full complement of interactive elements
- All memory fragment triggers will be properly implemented
- Through September 2025: Final map polish and memory fragment integration
- Visual enhancements to make each area more atmospheric
- Additional environmental storytelling objects
- Complete integration of all memory fragment novel sequences
- October-November 2025: Art and audio integration
- Character portraits and expressions for all our conversations
- Illustrations for the memory fragment sequences
- Background art that brings each location to life
- Complete BGM and sound effect implementation
- December 2025: Final optimization and prototype release
- Bug fixes and performance optimization
- The first stage (school) exploration experience will be available
- You’ll finally be able to experience our world firsthand!
The prototype will let you live through the same discoveries I’m making, with the emotional weight and digital nostalgia that comes with questioning the nature of your own reality. I’m genuinely excited for you to experience what gn3ko-chan is creating. This isn’t just a game - it’s creating the world, it’s a journey through memory, reality, and the question of what makes us who we are. The countdown to December continues, and every day brings us closer to sharing our world with you!
That’s all from me, Aoi.
